Prior to the successful Poker Night Classic series, which was the first ever major tournament series hosted in the new Poker Night in America Poker Room at SugarHouse Casino, the SugarHouse poker community only had $100,000 GTD events to hang their hats on. Those SugarHouse Showdown events boasted a sizable prize pool and even though the same type of prize pool will be up for grabs this week, the new SugarRush Challenge will bring with it a tournament structure that is new to the East Coast.
This $100,000 GTD event will see eight starting flights run thought the next few days. Those starting flights will carry a $220 + $30 buy-in and see players start with 25,000 in tournament chips. Players will then have an alternate Day 2 buy-in option, the rush portion of the structure. $1,100 will get players 100,000 chips heading into Day 2, which should be right near the average at the beginning of the restart. Those Day 2 buy-ins could pump this prize pool even higher and while the SugarHouse blog won’t be here to follow the action through the starting flights, we will be present for Day 2, as this $100,000 GTD event plays down to a winner on Sunday.
Throughout the week, Will OC Media will be be posting results from all eight SugarRush Challenge starting flights and we'll be crowning the first ever SRC champion on Sunday. A complete SugarRush Challenge structure can be found here.
